Part 107 Applies to Professional Small UAS Operations

Part 107 is the FAA operating framework for small UAS flown for work or business. The rules cover who may operate, where flights may occur, and which limits require authorization or waiver.

  • Small UAS must weigh less than 55 pounds.
  • The remote pilot certificate must be available during operations.
  • The remote pilot is responsible for the safety of the operation.
  • Operations outside normal limitations require a waiver or authorization where applicable.
